The story
This colonial church served as a Civil War field hospital, and its cemetery holds the remains of about 30,000 Confederate soldiers, with the Crater battlefield less than a mile away. Petersburg Tourism runs All Hallows Eve evening tours here, and visitors describe the cemetery after dark as feeling very different from the daytime.
Visitors. Open to the public (admission; seasonal evening tours).
