The story
In 1979 the local paper reported that a police officer who had known Emily Fowler saw her figure in the library's history section years after her death. Staff since then describe hearing their names called from the stacks, a figure stepping out between shelves and vanishing, and a staff bathroom that locks from inside when empty.
