The story

This house stood where the Confederate assault hit hardest on November 30, 1864, and the reports here are dramatic: sudden yells outside, loud bangs with no cause and see-through figures in Civil War dress moving through the rooms that served as a field hospital. The house appeared on a Travel Channel series about America's most terrifying places.

Visitors. Open to the public (museum; separate Saturday ghost tours).
