The story
In 1925 H.P. Lovecraft's aunt wrote to him that this Prospect Street mansion was said to be haunted, and he joked that the ghosts might belong to the terrapins Wild Tom Halsey kept in the cellar. Lovecraft later used the house as the Ward family home in The Case of Charles Dexter Ward.
