The story
The inn's legend concerns Madeline, a 19th-century woman in a secret affair with a man who, like her, was promised to someone else. A desk clerk's error put her in Room 211 and her lover on another floor, and believing she had been abandoned, she is said to have taken her own life there. Guests in Room 211 report a dent in the bedding as if someone sat beside them, unrequested wake-up calls and a woman in a white gown.
