The story
The Civic's best-known ghost is Fred, remembered as a longtime custodian who died on the job and still seems to discourage vandalism and rowdy patrons. A young woman linked to the Ohio and Erie Canal, which runs beneath the 1929 theater, is said to weep by the water near Lock 3, and a quiet man is reported sitting in the upper balcony when no ticket was sold for his seat.
