The story
Visitors to this long-serving harbor fort describe a soldier in a dark uniform walking a fixed path through the lower fortifications, passing straight through walls and parked cars before he disappears. Regional folklore also tells of a woman at Fort Tompkins who briefly saw a wartime hospital scene, with a soldier shouting at her to take cover, before the present snapped back.
