The story

Shoemaker Andreas Kremser was killed in 1786 when a cellar caved in on him here, and soon afterward residents heard a cobbler's hammer tapping in the empty shoe room. Then came sightings of a small man in a red coat in the halls and stairwells, the Little Red Man who has been part of Old Salem lore for more than two centuries.
