The story
Confederate signalmen stationed at this 1858 courthouse were killed by Union shelling during the 1863 siege. Staff and visitors report voices and laughter, footsteps in empty rooms and figures in Civil War-era dress, and staff say gift-shop books have been found laid out on the floor after closing.
