The story
Work on this octagonal mansion stopped in 1861, leaving the upper floors unfinished with tools still in place while the family lived in the basement. Visitors and staff report footsteps on the empty upper floors, faces in upstairs windows and a woman in period dress at the top of the stairs whom guides call Julia Nutt.
Visitors. Open to the public (house tours).
