The story
Columbia's 1928 hotel slipped into decades as low-rent housing before its 2012 restoration. Guests describe a woman, named in legend as Helen Vorhees, who appears in the elevator and disappears before it stops, and staff mention cold spots and footsteps on the upper floors.
