The story

A dust explosion at the Washburn A Mill killed 18 workers in 1878, and ghost tours say their spirits linger in the limestone ruins. Visitors report a heavy, watched feeling in the courtyard after dark, and some tours tell of booms echoing across the ruins.

Visitors. Open to the public (museum admission).
