The story

Assistant keeper Adam Sayles died of a heart attack inside the lighthouse in 1942, and guides credit him with footsteps on the tower stairs and cold spots where keepers did their work. A girl in period dress, called Jesse, is also said to stare from a second-floor window, though no record of her exists.
