The story

Widow Elizabeth Hooper ran a tavern here and was found dead in 1701, wrapped in a sheet, and witnesses have described her gliding across the floor in that same sheet. Five Hessian soldiers playing cards are also said to haunt the house, with sightings beginning after a library wing was added in 1915.
