The story

Union troops camped at this cave during the Civil War, and soldiers' carved names are still visible on its limestone walls. Local lore also claims Jesse James hid here after an 1868 Bowling Green bank robbery, a story that has never been documented, and the site leans into both histories with a seasonal 'Lost Tales of the Underground' program.

Visitors. Open to the public (ticketed boat tours; seasonal dark-history tour).
