The story

Gold Star Hall at the 1928 Memorial Union carries the names of Iowa State people who died in World War I. Staff on early and late shifts describe a low moan or whistle in the empty hall, credited to Hortense Wind, a dietitian who died of influenza in France in 1918 and the only woman carved among the names.
