The story

Major William S. Grady bought this Greek Revival house in 1863 and was killed at Petersburg the following year, and local tradition says he came home anyway. Event staff and visitors describe soldiers in 1860s uniforms and women in period dress upstairs, plus knocking and footsteps on the staircase when the house is empty.
