The story
About 600 Confederate dead lie in Soldiers' Square on the slope above the Ocmulgee River, and visitors report figures in period uniform among the markers after dusk and the sound of marching boots on empty paths. The nine victims of the 1887 Woolfolk axe murders are also buried here.
