The story
For generations guides told school groups that thirteen patriots were hanged from this house's outside staircase during the 1781 Siege of Augusta. Historian Ed Cashin later showed the house wasn't built until 1797, but the hanging legend still clings to the place and keeps it on Augusta's ghost-tour circuit.
