The story

Bessie Baxter died in September 1918, four days before her wedding, on her way home from buying her gown in Los Angeles, and she was buried in that dress. For decades since, people have reported a woman in a flowing white gown drifting among the headstones in the evening, and the Historical Society of Long Beach includes her story in its annual cemetery tour.
