The story
In 1974 a visiting Japanese scholar napping in Room 219 woke to see a well-dressed man sitting in the chair across from him, who stood, moved aside and vanished. Shown photos of former residents, he picked out historian Henry Morse Stephens, who lived at the club and died suddenly in 1919, and a newspaper story about the sighting hangs framed in the club's offices.
