The story

Ghost tours say Jack Swan, the sailor who built this adobe in the 1840s and died in 1896, never quite left his playhouse. Guides and visitors talk of objects shifting with no one nearby and a voice from the direction of the little stage, as if Swan were still calling cues to absent performers.

Visitors. Part of Monterey State Historic Park; exterior viewable, interior per park schedule.

Location note. Intersection address (corner of Pacific and Scott Streets)
