The story
Built in 1881 for the Atherton family, the mansion is tied to George Atherton, who died at sea and was reportedly shipped home in a barrel of rum. Residents over the years have told of knocking on the walls, doors opening and closing, voices at night and cold drafts, and some say several female spirits share the house.
