The story
The basement of this 1835 house served as a Civil War field hospital and jail, and caretakers and investigators report whispers there, shadow figures in the central hall and women in 19th-century dress upstairs. One well-worn story tells of a caretaker who arrived to find a casket holding a Confederate uniform laid out in the parlor.
