The story
Laredo's take on the vanishing hitchhiker starts after a dance at the old Casa Blanca ballroom, when a young man named Mario drives a girl home and finds she has left her necklace in his car. When he returns it, her father tells him his daughter drowned in the lake five years earlier. Folklorists see it as a borderland legend that blends with La Llorona traditions, and no real drowning has been tied to the tale.
