The story
A 1930s renovation uncovered three skeletons and a jeweled dagger behind the old fireplace, feeding the legend of Madeline, a young woman said to have been killed by a jealous tavern keeper's wife. Staff and guests most often report a baby crying, which tradition ties to victims of the frontier killers the Harpe brothers.
