The story

Biloxi tradition says a pirate buried treasure on Deer Island and beheaded a crewman so his ghost would guard it, and in 1892 fisherman Eugene Tiblier Sr. described men fleeing a headless skeleton standing among the palmettos. A second legend, the Firewater Ghost, is a blue light said to float just above the water toward Ocean Springs after midnight.
