The story
Keeper Perry Younghans died in 1867, less than a year into the job, and his widow Maria went on to tend the light for more than 50 years. Their story is the backbone of the lighthouse's role as a stop on local ghost tours, where guides tell eerie stories about the tower, though no specific sightings are documented.
