The story
The star fort saw deaths in the 1814 bombardment, among Civil War prisoners and in a World War I hospital. Its most repeated story is of a woman in white in the officers' quarters who is said to push visitors on the stairs, and others describe footsteps, lights in the powder magazines and distant cries.
