The story

After the brigantine General Arnold wrecked in 1778, the frozen bodies of its crew were brought to this courthouse to thaw. Visitors in the lower level report something heavy being dragged across the floor overhead, taps that turn on by themselves and an unseen hand pulling their hair.

Visitors. Open seasonally (museum; free admission).
