The story
This tomb is linked to Marie Laveau, the renowned Louisiana Creole Voodoo practitioner, herbalist, and midwife of 19th-century New Orleans. Her daughter, Marie Laveau II, also practiced Voodoo and conjure. The tomb is one of the most visited graves in the city, a focal point for the many stories that still surround the Laveau name.
