The story
Crew lore aboard the 1914 sternwheeler, the oldest operating river steamboat, centers on Captain Ben Winters, longtime master of the boat when it was named the Avalon. The pilothouse wheel is said to turn briefly with no one at the helm, and a man in a captain's uniform has been glimpsed on the upper decks.
