The story
This jail in Kalihi stands on the site of the old Oahu Prison, where 47 men were hanged between 1909 and 1944 in a gallows later turned into an office. Guards say they struggle to sleep in the squad room beside the old execution chamber, and inmates report rattling cell doors.
