The story

The signature phenomenon here is a smell: staff report scorched potatoes cooking when nothing is on the stove, strong enough that the fire department was once called and found nothing burning. A woman in period dress seen near the State Dining Room is known locally as Molly, said to have been a cook in the house.

Visitors. Open to the public (house museum; guided tours, admission fee).
