The story
A longtime board member says staff, contractors or guests at this 1850s 'Palace of the South' have always been reporting something they could not explain. The best-known account is of a woman in 1800s dress rifling through a chest of drawers, identified as Mary Ellen Felton, daughter of the original owners, along with doors that slam on their own.
