The story

Father Jean Baptiste Francolon built this 1895 hillside castle, which later served as a sanatorium run by the Sisters of Mercy. Staff and visitors describe a little girl, a man glimpsed in mirrors, a woman in black and soft footsteps and whispers in empty halls, with the chapel known for sudden chills.

Visitors. Open (museum run by the Manitou Springs Historical Society).
