The Real Mary King’s Close
Buried beneath the Royal Mile for centuries, this preserved 1600s subterranean street housed victims of the 1645 bubonic plague outbreak. Ghostly encounters with little Annie have been documented since the 17th century.
South Bridge Blair Street Vaults
Constructed within the 19 arches of the 1788 South Bridge, these subterranean caverns degraded into slums, illicit distilleries, and Burke and Hare body dumping sites. Intense cold spots and physical phenomena are frequently reported.
Greyfriars Kirkyard & Covenanters’ Prison
Consecrated in 1562, this historic cemetery holds the Black Mausoleum of Sir George ‘Bluidy’ Mackenzie. The site has over 500 documented anomalous poltergeist attacks since a vagrant disturbed the tomb in 1999.
Grassmarket Gallows Execution Square
The historic public execution site of Edinburgh where Covenanter martyrs, witches, and convicted criminals were hung before crowds. The shadow of Half-Hangit Maggie Dickson still permeates local folklore.
