The story
Built in the 1860s as the Fremantle Lunatic Asylum, the building has a reputation for doors that open and close, faces at windows and corridors where the temperature drops. The best-known story concerns a patient whose red-haired daughter was abducted and who died after jumping from a front window, and redheads on tours say they have felt their hair pulled.
Visitors. Open to the public (arts centre and galleries; the centre does not run ghost tours).
