The story
Staff and volunteers at Australia's oldest surviving public building report footsteps behind them, cigar smoke hanging in the air and a woman in period dress at the foot of the grand staircase. A woman in a long blue dress seen on the second floor reportedly gave her name as Mary, linked by guides to Governor Bligh's daughter, and ghost-tour guests have described a little girl near a tree close to where Lady Mary Fitzroy was fatally injured in an 1847 carriage accident.
