The story
The theatre's best-known ghost is Joe, said to be heartbroken after his sweetheart's disapproving family sent her overseas. Local lore says former deputy lord mayor Frank Rigby, sitting alone in the stalls one evening worrying about a funding shortfall, had a long conversation with him.
